Rodney Plante

Plante is a renowned technology executive and catalyst for change in healthcare IT. Recognized for driving innovation, operational excellence, and large-scale digital transformation, he has a proven ability to unify technology ecosystems, enhance clinical satisfaction, and build high-performing, inspired IT teams that drive measurable business impact.

Joining us from Optum Health (UnitedHealth Group), Rodney brings deep expertise in technology strategy, M&A integration, data governance, cybersecurity, and enterprise IT operations. He has led some of the most complex technology overhauls in the industry while optimizing efficiency, satisfaction, and performance.

Rodney began his career as a psychotherapist, first in Vancouver, BC, and later at Standford Hospital, CA, where he developed a deep understanding of change management and the transformative potential of technology. This foundation propelled him into technology leadership, where he applied his expertise in change management to optimize healthcare systems. Before serving as CIO for Optum Health, he held executive roles at NYU Langone Medical Center and Hospital for Special Surgery, leading enterprise-wide technology initiatives that empowered providers and improved operational effectiveness.

As CIO for Optum Health, Rodney oversaw technology operations for the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic care delivery regions. Over his five-year tenure, he led the rapid integration of 235+ federated medical practices, consolidating disparate applications and systems into a unified technology ecosystem, resulting in over $50M in operational efficiencies. At the core of his success was a unique ability to manage complex integrations of multiple acquisitions while minimizing business disruption. By unifying technologies and managing work forces across markets, he created a single operating model that yielded improved service delivery, project execution, and user satisfaction. A strategic thinker and dynamic leader, he is passionate about appropriately leveraging technology to transform healthcare delivery.

Rodney holds a master’s degree in social work/psychology from the University of British Columbia. He enjoys traveling, tennis, hiking, and outdoor music festivals. He spends his time between Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and NYC with his husband, Scott, and mini-dachshund, Cooper.
